HIGH SCHOOL FIELD HOCKEY PRE-TRYOUT TRAINING SESSIONS

Find Registration Link at top of page.

KWOH is excited to be hosting four skill sessions beginning next week, programmed specifically for athletes (grades 9 through 12) entering high school with the intention of trying out for their respective WCSSAA high school field hockey teams! No prior field hockey experience is needed, but the sessions will take a more "training" rather than "teaching" approach. All sessions will be led by current WCSSAA coaches as well as former Canadian university and national team players.

Sessions will explore:

- a purposeful, dynamic warm-up (how to get game-ready with a focus on injury prevention)
- stick skills (ball control and manipulation skills)
- defensive skills (body positioning, tackling, regaining ball possession, etc.)
- attacking skills (shooting, passing, etc.)
- basic systems and tactics
- game play
- what WCSSAA coaches look for in athlete selection
- information on what it is like to play WCSSAA field hockey (commitment, length of season, season structure, etc.)

All athletes should bring their own equipment (a field hockey stick, shin guards, mouth guard, water bottle, and a mask).  If you do not have a stick there will be sticks at the field to borrow.

Where: Woodside Park, Kitchener
When: Monday August 30 to Thursday September 2 from 5:30pm-7pm daily
Cost: $15.00 per session attended, to be paid at the field (exact change appreciated).
Registration:  Registration will open on the afternoon of Monday, August 30th.

We are looking forward to seeing you back on the pitch!

KWOH Field Hockey

KWOH is a co-ed field hockey club consisting of both house league and competitive teams. Our house league program is for boys and girls U9 and U11 and female only U13, U15 and  U18.

In the Fall, we offer a weekly Skills program for 12-18 year old girls.

In November we move inside to the gym and play Indoor Field Hockey. This is a much faster game and allows girls to continue enjoying the sport they love all year long. The Indoor season consists of a league that plays November – March at RIM Park.
